Our Chattanooga, TN office is looking for an experience Accounting Manager to oversee the Project Accounting team and functions.  Local candidates strongly preferred.

Position Summary:

The Accounting Manager will manage a variety of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies and external audits. This person will manage the accounts receivable and payable function, perform general accounting functions, oversee the monthly closing of accounts, and prepare reports in support of the financial statements.  The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting experience and a proactive work ethic focused on driving results. This person is a self-starter, has a high level of integrity, and is action-oriented in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You Will Be Doing in This Role:

  • Direct management of Project Accounting team with average of eight direct reports
  • Oversee and direct daily accounts receivable/accounts payable processing and general accounting functions including but not limited to: AP/AR audit, owner billings, change orders, owner contracts, and cost report analysis
  • Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes
  • Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures
  • Train and mentor accounting team to increase financial acumen and focus efforts on maximizing financial value
  • Be a Procore and Viewpoint “super user” to ensure that new technology advancements are deployed successfully
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
  • Assists Accounting Leadership with special accounting requests

 

What You Will Need for This Role:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or 5 or more years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of 3 years supervising an accounting department in a similar atmosphere to EMJ Construction
  • Exceptional knowledge and skills in general accounting
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
  • Well organized and able to accomplish a variety of tasks in an efficient and timely manner
  • Excellent computer skills using Procore, Viewpoint, SharePoint, MS Office (with an emphasis on Excel)
