Our Chattanooga, TN office is looking for a Project Accountant to support multiple construction teams and projects.  This position can be based in our Chattanooga, TN or Irving, TX office.


Position Summary: 

The Project Accountant position works closely with the Project Manager and Preconstruction teams to handle the Viewpoint (VP) set up; they will be responsible for the recurring Viewpoint billing and working with the Project team on change orders; the Preconstruction Teams on budget entry; and the Operations Accountants to gather all necessary paperwork from subcontractors and owners.  The Projects Accountant is the ultimate liaison between the Project(s) Team and Accounting. 


What You Will Be Doing in This Role: 

  • Works with Accounting and Project Managers to follow up on owner payments
  • Works closely with Project Managers and respective accounting group to ensure timely invoice processing and payment for all assigned projects
  • Assists the Project Managers with cost projections and the preparation of the cost report for Monthly Project Reviews
  • Investigates cost issues/questions for the Project Managers as needed; write up “actually spent cost allocations”
  • Enters cost allocations in Viewpoint after Project Manager/Preconstruction Manager Approval
  • Works with the Project Manager and Accounting Manager on better projections of cash flow
  • Assists with the integration of Procore on the Project level.  Manages “open items” at that level
  • Becomes “super-user” of Viewpoint and works with the Business Process Manager in training staff
  • Assists in the RFI/Change Order Management process.  Coordinates change request and change order paperwork process with the client
  • Reviews contract and budget with the Preconstruction Managers and Project Management teams in order to set up correctly in Viewpoint
  • Sets up Projects/Contracts/Budgets in Viewpoint


What You Will Need For This Role: 

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of related job cost/construction experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, SharePoint, Viewpoint, and Procore experience (preferred)
