Sovereign is looking for an ambitious Underwriting Specialist who will be adept at underwriting commercial property and casualty policies and sharing this expertise with their Risk Specialist partners. The underwriting of submissions, renewals, and endorsements.
Providing feedback and leading our underwriting approach in collaboration with our national underwriting team and other underwriting specialists. This includes developing and reviewing of corporate underwriting standards, appetite, and philosophy.
Formulating, preparing, and maintaining of policy wordings, on-line underwriting manuals, resource tools and underwriting systems.
Co-ordinating the underwriting audit process including follow up support to ensure action plans to address issues identified in the audit occur in a timely manner.
Coaching, training, and developing team members and providing timely feedback to achieve department objectives.
Detail oriented work that requires a high degree of mental concentration for extended periods of time.
You will provide support to clients who are experiencing a personal or financial loss. A high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.
As a leader, strict confidentiality is required with respect to sensitive matters and employees’ personal information.

10-15 years of experience in commercial property & casualty underwriting, with at least 5 at the senior or specialist level.
Multi-line underwriting experience considered an asset.
Experience in cross-border and international placements considered an asset.
