The Admission Associate plays a key role in supporting and creating admission processes that focus on creating a welcoming, caring, and supportive environment for prospective students and their families. This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills. The Admission Associate will be responsible for creating and executing an effective and efficient admission process, including assessment events, and initiating improvement efforts to streamline admission processes, establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with both internal and external constituents. This individual is part of an energetic, dynamic and mission-driven team that plays a key role in the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of a diverse, highly qualified student body and in shaping first impressions and the ongoing experiences of families throughout the admission process.
Project Management
- Ensure seamless, efficient admission process for applicant families.
- Analyze problems and devise appropriate solutions, prioritize, work within tight deadlines, and exercise good judgment.
- Collaborate with faculty on the admissions processes.
- Partner with our schools’ leaders to learn about our programs, as well as collaborate and align activities related to enrollment goals.
- Partner with the curriculum coordinator and teachers to learn about and keep up to date with our programs.
Administration
- Prepare materials for admission screening and assessments.
- Support daily operations of the Admission Office.
- Partner with IT to streamline admission processes.
- Monitor new family experiences and ensure their smooth transition into Punahou School.
Communication
- Follow through and reply promptly, completely, and positively to inquiries about the school, application process, tuition assistance, and related events
- Manage a wide variety of relationships in a diverse environment with diverse cultures
- Work with multiple colleagues and stakeholders to align the admission experience with the Punahou Mission.
- Provides superior customer service when interacting with prospective students and their families on the phone, in writing, by email, text message, and/or in person.
Analytics
- Monitoring and analyzing local and national demographic trends that affect independent school enrollment, and keeping informed of independent school trends (through NAIS, HAIS, Enrollment Management Association, and other associations and organizations) that affect admission and financial aid.
- Compiling, analyzing, and reporting admission data trends and projections to various constituent groups.
Position Details:
- Work Year: 12 month
- Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Occasional Saturdays. Schedule may vary based on operational needs.
- Minimum of Salary Range*: $69,700 - Compensation is commensurate with qualifications.

Pay for selected candidates will be determined by various factors such as knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant training and experience, and internal equity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
- Three (3) years of work experience in an independent school environment, preferably in admissions, marketing and/or communication.
- Experience with admission and financial aid software (Blackbaud software preferred).
- Experience with project management.
- Warm and hospitable speaking and written communication skills.
- Meticulous organizational and project management skills with empathetic flexibility to adapt.
- High aptitude for technology and data management systems (e.g. Blackbaud, MailChimp, Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Trello, etc.).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and facilitate an equitable admissions experience.
- Possess a collaborative, go-getter attitude to partner effectively and efficiently with members of the Admissions Team, faculty, and administrators.
- A positive outlook and genuine desire to collaborate with families through the admissions process.
- Successful event planning experience.
