Plant Operator-Night Shift

This is for an overnight position. Start time for this role will be between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Schedule may vary.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate asphalt plants to exceed Graniterock's standards. Inspect, lubricate and assist with the maintenance of the drum and batch plants. Produce high-quality products that achieve SPC Batching Accuracy Goals that consistently meets or exceeds customers' expectations. Maintain records of maintenance and repairs performed, while achieving all Preventive Maintenance and Plant Uptime goals. Maintain cleanliness of the plant area, work with emulsion customers, operate bobcat, loader, and 10-wheeler as needed. Work towards constant improvement in product quality and plant performance. Able to work without fear of hights or being in tight places. Perform all duties in a safe manner and speak up when you observe an unsafe situation. Work in alignment with Graniterock's Strategic Priorities and business objectives.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent.

SKILLS: Good communication, math and organizational skills; demonstrated positive work relationship with team members and customers. Good computer skills. Proficiency in operating a front-end loader, bobcat, and forklift. Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, demanding environment. Ability to frequently climb, bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs. to inspect and maintain the plants. Ability to weld and use mechanical skills to repair plants.

EXPERIENCE: Must have welding/mechanical experience. Must have proven experience in providing excellent customer service.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Some college education including general computer and welding/fabrication courses.

SKILLS: Asphalt mix design knowledge;aggregate and binder properties knowledge;ability to trouble shoot plant problems. Experience in performing thorough plant inspections and developing maintenance plans from plant inspections. Understand statistical process control (SPC) and its relationship to production. VEE certification.

EXPERIENCE: 2+ years operating asphalt plants.Some knowledge of compaction, paving and trucking.

 

OTHER COMMENTS Must be a team player and flexible; working hours will vary between day and night shifts, including weekends; must be available to report to work on short notice. Must have valid CA Driver's License, clean driving record and be safety conscious.  Work is covered under a contact with the Operating Engineers Local 3.

Hiring Pay

Salary will be determined based on the individual’s knowledge, skills and experience. Ranges are aligned with market data and/or collective bargaining agreement rates.
