First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking a collaborative, analytical Associate Software Engineer to join our Digital Engineering team. In this role, the individual is responsible for front-end UI development, back-end API development, and DevOps infrastructure. Develop innovative financial and banking-based web applications that positively impact customer experiences and digital interactions with First Hawaiian Bank.
Compensation:
The annual salary range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000 / annually; commensurate with experience.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (hours may vary)
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related discipline; or equivalent experience required
1-3 years of experience programming in a modern programming language preferred
Hands-on experience through coursework or internship
Experience writing code for web applications
Experience integrating third-party APIs
Experience thoroughly documenting projects and code repositories
Experience with either relational (e.g., Postgres, SQL, MariaDB) or non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, NoSQL)
Experience contributing to production web applications and platforms
Source / version control experience with Git
Demonstrated ability to learn and embrace new technologies
Strong understanding of HTTP protocols
Experience writing unit and integration tests
High-level knowledge of complete technology stack across front-end, back-end and infrastructure
Good verbal and written communication skills
