Business Development Manager - Strategic Accounts

Job Summary:

The Business Development Manager (BDM) - Strategic Accounts will support and grow business to achieve or exceed defined sales revenue targets.   BDMs evaluate the market, develop leads, contact prospects, grow the territory, make appointments, and determine needs of the customer – with a passion to close!  

The ideal applicant is competitive, articulate, competent, learns quickly, and is not afraid to fail. 
  
This position requires effective development and maintenance of the sales pipeline, customer base, selling services within a defined segment or subset of strategic accounts, and aligning sales goals with corporate goals and objectives.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

•    Maintain a detailed customer database with sales prospect lists/sales funnels as required to achieve sales and/or opportunity generation volume targets.  
•    Develop a pipeline and follow the sales funnel process from prospect to new customer to account expansion target customers.
•    Create and execute account strategies to develop and deepen relationships with target strategic accounts.
•    Drive customer retention and expansion by partnering with internal program leads to grow book of business with select existing customers. 
•    Support contract negotiations when applicable, optimizing pricing and terms to ensure alignment with both client expectations and company profitability.
•    Stay updated on industry trends, competitor offerings, and client business challenges to remain competitive.
•    Contact prospective customers through a combination of telephone and in-person contacts, networking, and referrals to obtain appointments and develop working dialogue with key buying decision-makers.
•    Together with Program Managers and Technical Leads, write tailored, cost-effective proposals and sales plans. 
•    Prepare and present the solution in a professional manner using the available resources. 
•    Participate in trade shows, industry events and customer entertainment activities. 
•    Develop positive working relationships with all internal disciplines, teams, and management. 
•    Meet or exceed assigned sales KPIs.
•    Attend technical and sales training programs to further development competencies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

•    3-7 years of experience in sales, business development, or account management roles, particularly in a B2B environment.
•    Experience working within long sales cycles where deals may involve multiple stakeholders and decision-makers.
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients.
•    Experience in medical device industry preferred but not required.
•    Excellent independent work ethic and organizational skills.
•    Must be willing to travel up to 35% of the time.
•    Must have technical aptitude and/or knowledge of software and electronics-based medical device technology. 
•    B.S. or M.S. required; Life Sciences or Technical focus preferred but not required.
•    Local candidates preferred.
