Punahou School is actively recruiting an Administrative Assistant for the S+Well Counseling Department and Learning Support Department. They will assist department staff as they attend to the social-emotional and learning needs of our students.  The Administrative Assistant will be located in the S+Well counseling office during the school year and summer school.  The S+Well offers quiet spaces for students to relax or to meet with counselors.  Within this space, the Administrative Assistant fulfills administrative duties for both departments.  Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

Support and Wellness (S+Well) Counseling Office

  • Manages the S+Well office to ensure appropriate use of the space, with an emphasis on maintaining a professional atmosphere and prioritizing privacy for all students.
  • Will serve as the S+Well concierge, managing the intake of students and ensuring that students are monitored during their time in the S+Well.
  • Supports counselors in fulfilling general office needs such as ordering and picking up supplies as needed.  Assists counselors with scheduling meetings, presentations, and events.
  • Occasionally takes the S+Well therapy dog for brief walks during the school day as needed.
  • Must be able to respond calmly in emotional situations and to transition smoothly between the multiple demands of the role, sometimes requiring sudden shifts in response to immediate needs. The candidate should also be committed to protecting confidentiality.

Learning Support

  • The Administrative Assistant manages and organizes documentation for students who have diagnosed conditions that impact learning.
  • Assists Learning Support Specialists with scheduling meetings and communicating with parents to ensure students have updated documentation on file.
  • Communicates and tracks extended time accommodations for Semester Exams.
  • Under the general guidance of the Learning Support Specialists, the Administrative Assistant will serve as the school’s liaison with the College Board’s and ACT’s Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) offices, managing accommodation requests for students with disabilities. 
  • Assists the Assistant Scheduler/Standardized Test Coordinator to ensure students are tested with appropriate accommodations, coordinate spaces and staff, and receive/return testing materials.  Provides support to the Advanced Placement test Coordinator during the AP testing weeks.
  • When needed, provides coverage as needed to the Academy Testing Center.

Position Details:

  • Work Year:  10.5 Months
  • Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Schedule may vary based on operational needs
  • Minimum Hourly Rate*: $23.00/Hour - Compensation is commensurate with qualifications.

*Punahou School offers a comprehensive total rewards program that includes competitive pay and benefits. The pay rate, if displayed, is the minimum hourly rate for the position. Pay for selected candidates will be determined by various factors such as knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant training and experience, and internal equity.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years of administrative experience.
  • Experience working in a school environment is preferred.
  • Experience working with the area that this position will service is preferred.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid or other emergency procedures preferred.
