Engineer III, Public Cloud (Managed Services)

Description

 

The Public Cloud Engineer’s role is to provide installation, support, and design of ivision’s Public Cloud Managed Services. Candidates should be experienced in engineering operations of key public cloud technologies across Azure, AWS and/or Google Cloud.  Exceptional service delivery and customer service will be an essential element of success in this role to ensure the highest standards in meeting client needs and deliver consistent quality-of-service. In this role, candidates will also have the opportunity to participate in product development efforts by working directly with the Public Cloud Architect to develop new offerings around public cloud architectures by analyzing market trends, client requirements, and researching current and future technology platforms.

 

Responsibilities

 

Strategy & Planning

·       Assist with implementing short- and long-term strategic plans to support ivision’s public cloud clients.

·       Implement and maintain policies, procedures, runbooks, and associated training documentation for use by public cloud engineers.

·       Deploy methodologies for testing performance and providing performance statistics and reports to clients.

·       Collaborate with ivision leadership on Managed Services service level agreements and processes.

 

Acquisition & Deployment

·       Plan and coordinate installation of public cloud instances across ivision and client environments.

·       Conduct research and make recommendations on public cloud products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.

·       Follow Change Management processes for the administration and support of all Public Cloud services.

·       Collaborate with the Service Delivery team and clients to complete onboarding and health checks for public cloud environments.

 

Operational Management

·       Ensure optimal operation of all public cloud deployments.

·       Manage effectiveness of security solutions, including firmware upgrades, anti-virus solutions, and software patches.

·       Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the client and organization’s executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent public cloud activities.

·       Administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights as it pertains to ivision and client environments.

 

Position Requirements

 

Formal Education & Certification

·       Four-year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science and/or 4 years equivalent work experience.

·       The following certifications are highly desired:

o   AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate

o   AWS Certified Security Specialty

o   Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

o   Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate

o   ITIL Foundations

 

Knowledge & Experience

·       4+ years design, deployment, and support of Public Cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS and/or Google Cloud.

·       4+ years deployment and support of Microsoft Technologies (Windows Server, AD, SQL, PowerShell).

·       4+ years’ experience with infrastructure monitoring and alerting tools.

·       Experienced in base networking within public cloud environments, including client site and end user connectivity to hyperscalers.

·       Experienced in data management, backup and replication methodologies as it relates to public cloud environments.

·       Working knowledge of current protocols and standards, including TCP/IP.

·       Understanding of orchestration and automation methodologies pertaining to the specific needs of public cloud environments.  Experience with Terraform is a plus.

·       Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunications principles.

·       Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

·       Experience in a Managed Services environment is a plus.

Work Conditions

 

·       On-call availability is required.

·       Sitting for extended periods of time.
