Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, electrical, low volt systems and equipment such as motors, pumps, pneumatic tube, fire alarm system, nurse call system, Building Automation Systems, security access control systems, electro/mechanical doors, closed circuit television systems, public address, emergency generator plant systems, blowers, fans, etc.
  • Responsible for and provides assistance with installation, replacement, repair, and testing of electrical circuits, equipment, wiring, appliances, systems, lighting, signals, communication, generating and distribution equipment (over 4000 volts), and power circuits.  
  • Makes recommendations on the design layout and installation of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Analyzes and isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using test instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, and voltmeter.  
  • Maintains, tests, and repairs building electrical equipment such as emergency power generator sets, fire pumps, air handling units, fire alarm system, and equipment in power house.  
  • Conducts electrical safety inspection of new equipment being brought into the facility.
  • Instructs employees on location of protective devices for equipment, branch circuits, feeders, and also location and function of controls for special circuits.
  • Recommends modifications, replacements, repairs and procedures.
  • Conducts routine to specialized preventive maintenance and performs routine to specialized equipment safety checks.
  • Coordinates and advises other departments, contractors, and staff for department projects and maintenance.
  • Reports unsafe conditions to department leadership in all cases.  Knowledgeable of support resources.
  • Provides direction to outside contractors on critical mechanical and electrical equipment, finishes, and systems.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver License with no more than 3 points.  Journeyman Electrical License. Low Volt Cabling Certification preferred. 
  • High School graduate or equivalent.  Journeyman accredited trade program.  Advanced education in electrical, computer sciences, computer programming, low volt systems, cabling systems, or equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regionally accredited trade or diploma programs.
