Position Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes and conducts medically prescribed physical, occupational or other medical therapy programs to restore / regain function and prevent disability.
  • Implements therapy involving physical exercise or occupational skills /activities.
  • Utilizes appropriately the available mechanical and electrical equipment as well as the prosthetic and orthopedic devices.          
  • Provides patient feedback to the involved staff on a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Documents findings, goals, interventions, re-assessments & evaluation relative to patient's progress weekly or as needed.
  • Attends & actively participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings.  Contributes to the development of individualized treatment plans for each patient.
  • Assists patients in activities of daily living (feeding, dressing, bathing, etc.) as needed.
  • Conducts patient group activities & individual activity sessions as assigned displaying theoretical knowledge of group principles & effective group and treatment techniques.
  • Provides resources & support for patient during & after treatment.  Gives clearly written instructions on community resource centers or programs to patient & family.               
  • Provides on-going education to patient & family as needed.  Involves patient& family with discharge planning.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Certification, Activity Director Certification or eligibility to take and obtain the certification within 3 months of employment. Certification on Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
  • BLS certification.
  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree preferred or Activity Director Certification.
  • 1 year experience as a Recreational/Activity Therapist, strongly preferred.
