What will I be doing?

We are seeking a skilled Remote Sensing Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on image processing, data analysis, and modeling from aerial, satellite, and radar imageries, as well as LiDAR data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in remote sensing and be proficient in LiDAR processing and deep-learning image analysis.

 

Key Responsibilities

ü Data Analysis and Modeling: Develop methodologies for data development, analysis and modeling from remote sensing and geospatial data, including land cover classification, vegetation analysis, hydrology, and urban planning applications. Ensure accuracy and reliability in feature extraction processes.

ü Image Processing and Analysis: Process and analyze large area aerial, satellite, and radar imagery to extract relevant features and information. Use advanced techniques to enhance image quality and interpret data accurately.

ü LiDAR Data Processing: Handle and process regionwide LiDAR data to classify point clouds, create detailed 3D models and extract meaningful spatial information. Apply various algorithms and tools to interpret LiDAR datasets effectively.

ü Data Integration and Visualization: Integrate remote sensing data with GIS platforms to create comprehensive spatial datasets. Develop visualizations and maps that effectively communicate findings and support decision-making processes.

ü Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with a diverse team of experts in a supportive and dynamic work environment. Be part of a forward-thinking organization making a tangible impact on the Houston-Galveston region.

 

Key Qualifications

ü Educational Background: Degree in Geography, Remote Sensing, GIS, Geoinformatics, Environmental Science, or a related field.

ü Technical Proficiency: Proficient in remote sensing software such as ENVI, ERDAS Imagine, TerrSet, LP360 and LiDAR processing tools. Strong skills in GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro . Experience with programming languages such as Python and R for automating data processing and analysis workflows.

ü Experience: In remote sensing analysis, including experience with aerial imagery, satellite imagery, radar and LiDAR data. Previous work in a governmental or research setting is a plus.

ü Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and apply complex workflows for geospatial data processing and feature extraction.

ü Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.

ü Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of data processing and analysis.

 

Do you have…  

ü Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study   

ü 3 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties 

 

Preferred Qualifications

ü Master’s degree in Geography, Remote Sensing, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field.

ü Experience with advanced machine learning techniques for remote sensing data analysis.

ü Certification in remote sensing or GIS.

ü Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or R for automating data processing tasks.
