PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

The Physician Assistant for Pain Management will be a Full-time opportunity for a Board Certified (or eligible) provider to become part of our Pain Management provider team. Experience in Pain Management is preferred and open to train new graduates with a serious interest in Spine and Pain Management. The PA will also see follow-up patients for chronic musculoskeletal pain, Spine, and post procedure follow up.

The PA provides healthcare services that are typically performed by a physician and are under the scope of practice of that physician. These services are provided by the PA under the supervision of an appropriate physician listed with the Georgia Medical Board.

Under the supervision of a physician, the PA is responsible for the following:  1) conducting comprehensive physical examinations and assessments, 2) providing treatment, 3) ordering diagnostic tests and in some cases may (order) medications as approved by a physician, 4) developing treatment plans and 5) counseling patients. The PA will clearly and accurately document all assessments, orders, procedures, treatment plans and patient education/counseling in Health connect.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions

1.   Assess patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews; assessing presenting illness, risk factors, and family history, psychological situation, and cultural factors; and performing appropriate physical examinations.

2.   Orders/performs appropriate laboratory diagnosis and other screening tests. Seeks other information as needed, including consultation with physicians and other clinicians, for evaluation of illness. Integrate data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of any health risk.

3.   Develops and implements treatment plan by prescribing/dispensing medications and/or injections in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws. Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments. Educates patients regarding health promotion/illness prevention.

4.   Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patient. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between visits according to treatment plan.

5.   Clearly documents assessments, procedures and/or treatment plans in Healthconnect.

 

Minimum Education

  • Successful completion of Physician Assistant Certificate program from an accredited college or university. Minimum of Bachelor’s degree.
  • Physician Assistant license in the state of Georgia.
  • Certification obtained by passing the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination, administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • CPR certification – current BLS
  • Educational or practice experience preferred
  • Master's degree preferred

 

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated collaborative/team-oriented work style
  • Physician’s Assistant experience preferred

 

Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation

  • Current PA license in the state of GA.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • ACLS

Minimum Education

  • BSN
  • Unrestricted current APRN license in the State of Georgia
  • CPR certification – current BLS
  • MSN, preferred

 

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting, plus two years of nurse practitioner experience.

 

Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation

  • Current state registered nurse license.
  • Current state license as an advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • ACLS
