The EP tech will assist the EP providers performing the loop recorder insertion, checking to make sure the device is functioning. In addition to the procedures, the EP tech would take on the the following responsibilities to bring the department up to standard of care and be more efficient than in the current state.
Responsibilities include:
- Interrogate , program as needed and triage wound check appointments of pacemaker, ICD and ILR patients in an outpatient setting
- Assist with newly structured loop implant clinic - duties will include Welcome / Follow-up calls, Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR) monitoring and patient education with instruction of remote monitoring
- Complete interrogations of pacemaker, ICD, and ILR reports and forward to EP physician
- Documents appropriately in database (PaceArt & Epic) regarding patient remotes/ interrogations
- Monitor and manage several device vendor websites daily for pacemaker and ICD remote transmission
- Identifies ALERTS that require immediate attention and notifies appropriate provider
- Recognizes abnormalities, malfunctions and “end of service” indicators. Notifies providers and assists in scheduling patients for follow up or replacement as indicated
- Coordinates and prioritizes with EP team members of the device clinic to plan and initiate timely and efficient care
- Educates patients and families regarding device function and clinic
Education:
- Graduation from or completion of formal educational i.e., NP, PA, RN, LPN, CMA or Cardiac Device training program consisting of training and knowledge of cardiac rhythm management and device interrogation.
A minimum of two years on the job training and demonstrated proficiency in Cardiac Device Management may be substituted for the formal education training program.
Experience:
- Two years' experience in area of specialty.
- Two years in cardiovascular care.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in Cardiology and ability to collaborate with physicians.
Preferred License:
Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE)
