Role Summary

The Sr. Project Engineer has overall accountability for managing the full project lifecycle of complex technology programs from requirements gathering through development, integration, qualification, and certification of connectivity and wireless IFE systems.  Organizes and leads a cross-functional, cross-organizational teams comprised of internal and external team members.

The projects managed by the Sr. Project Engineer represent strategic imperatives that have significant impact on the business and have direct visibility to senior management.   The Sr. Project Engineer partners with Product Teams, System Engineering, Software Development, QA, Procurement teams to develop and manage integrated delivery plans to support the development, integration, and launch of new system components for the Aviation business segment.

Success in this position includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that all identified requirements of the project are met, as well as delivered on time while meeting or exceeding financial objectives without compromising quality.  In addition, as a member of a growing business, the Sr. Project Engineer will play a significant role in defining and implementing delivery processes to support the rapidly changing technology and business needs of Anuvu and its customers.

Location: Anywhere in the United States but must be able to accommodate Central and Eastern time regions.

Remote Options:  This role is completely remote.

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Evaluate project requests from customer, program management, and commercial team to develop scope, cost, and schedule that meets customer expectations
  • Responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring and control of the projects.  This includes understanding the business and functional requirements; developing a statement of work that defines the deliverables, dependencies, and risks for the team; developing and maintaining an integrated project schedule; managing risks, changes, and project financials. 
  • Responsible for the management of changes to the project by working with cross functional organizations to identify and record proposed changes, perform impact analysis, coordinate costing and pricing, planning and execution of changes with approval of the Core Team and/or stakeholders
  • Manage design review and approval process for Engineering and Certification artifacts.  Validate design to statement of work throughout the project.
  • Facilitate external design review process with customers and partners; ensuring alignment with statement of work and project objectives.
  • Continuous risk management for the project, this will include leading the Core Team in the identification, analysis, response planning, monitoring and control of the risks
  • Managing project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, tracking costs, and analyzing/managing variances to plan
  • Management of relationships with the stakeholders (internal and external) of the project, including the communication, information sharing, and expectations management
  • Continuous Lessons Learned management throughout the life cycle of the project including: identification, documentation, analysis and recommendations and shared with the appropriate responsible functions
  • Developing the project’s communication plan and ensure that all project documentation and reports are completed on time and communicated to the appropriate personnel, including weekly project summary, exception reports and monthly program reviews.  The Sr. Project Engineer shall also manage regular Core Team meetings, documenting and distributing the meeting minutes as appropriate
  • Completing all project transition activities including project handover meeting, documentation, evaluation of project performance, archiving of documents and close out report
  • Identifying areas of process and tool improvements, develop and or participate in departmental improvement projects as directed by management

Expectations

As a Sr. Project Engineer, you will need to have a detailed, technical understanding of your projects, aircraft installation design and certification processes, equipment installation and maintenance practices for commercial airlines, and manage the content of your projects accordingly. You will need to have a comprehensive understanding of resources, people and money, and be able to clearly articulate needs and status to leadership team members. You need to be able to look at the timing of your projects with granularity at the week, month and quarter level and understand what is driving your schedule. You will need to feel accountable for all aspects of your projects, take full ownership and drive to deliver on time with quality.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering
  • At least 7 to 10 years experience working on commercial aircraft modification, leading medium size projects with moderate complexity within a global multi-disciplined engineering environment
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or ability to achieve certification within 1 year of employment preferred
  • Experience delivering STC and OEM linefit solutions to the commercial aviation industry is desirable
  • Knowledge of VSAT, satellite, IP networks and telecom technology is desirable
  • Ability to successfully lead and motivate others in a highly matrixed environment to accomplish business objectives with strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of project management techniques and tools with demonstrated competency in their application
