Role Summary

The Director of Business Development is the primary technical point of contact for our government prime contractor partners and end-user customers within the Government business sector and the sales liaison to Global Eagle's engineering and service delivery teams. This role is an integral member of the Government business development and account management teams providing support in all aspects of defining, implementing solutions and proposals for partners and end-users. This role develops and executes on a sales pipeline for our U.S. Government market vertical by working closely with the respective commercial, market and product development leads to identify and meet customer/market needs and will drive sales growth and performance.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop and manage relationships, and business lines, with one or more Government customers. Identify, create, shape and own the outcome of business opportunities with those customers cradle to grave.
  • Coordinate product and engineering resource availability to execute projects with internal stakeholders prior to sales.
  • Own customer issued solicitation responses, including setting strategy, schedule, any external teaming, required analysis, ensuring technical compliance, proposal support etc.
  • Gather customer requirements and work with the product engineering team to iterate on and improve offerings to meet the needs of customers.
  • Ideally shape customer opportunities to fit Global Eagle product offerings.
  • Represent Global Eagle in various forums and effectively communicate highly detailed and accurate information about Global Eagle & our offerings.
  • Develop a pipeline of opportunities in conjunction with prime contractor partners.
  • Ensure projects are managed and all relevant resources are utilized.
  • Ability to encourage team members for delivery of premium solutions.
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships; is co-operative and helps when needed while demonstrating an open-minded attitude.
  • Ability to work independently to create compliant technical responses under general guidance.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as may be assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a sales or business development role.
  • 10+ years of experience with Government programs.
  • Security clearance (existing or renewable) preferred.
  • Recent experience with government procurement; RFQ/RFP and RFIs within the past five (5) years.
  • A background in mobility (Aviation & Maritime) a plus.
  • Demonstrate technical aptitude for the products they have supported.
  • Established networks of relevant contacts.


  • Ability to work closely in local and remote teams.
  • Strong understanding of satellite communication technologies and terrestrial networks. Strong analytical skills in business and technical issues.
  • Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point, as well as Acrobat Pro.
  • Broad knowledge of satellite/VSAT and telecommunications technology.
  • Maintains organization ethics and morals and adheres to the Global Eagle core values.
  • Effective negotiation skills with strong commercial and analytical abilities and outstanding business judgment.
  • Possess the ability to produce and present in an inspiring manner to a variety of internal and external audiences. Designing proposal capture plans and strong proposal writing capabilities.



  • Nature of Work Contact: This position reports to the Director of Marketing .  Interacts with:  Senior Leadership Team, Business Development Organization, Engineering, Contracts, Finance and Accounting departments, SATCOM Technicians, IT staff, Operations, Technical Services and Sales Engineers.  External – acquisition professionals, customers and vendors.
  • Physical/Sensory Demands: Must be able to use a mobile phone, standard keyboard and monitors.   Some domestic/international travel required.

The anticipated starting salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $140,000-$150,000 base pay in addition to variable compensation, totaling to about $180,000-$190,000 . Actual compensation will depend on factors such as location, experience, skills, certifications…etc.
