Role Summary

Content Planners will be responsible for planning the movie and tv title provision in Global Eagle’s monthly content channel offering. They will have access to a library of acquired movies, TV and short-form content and be expected to choose the most appropriate titles to populate each channel. By refreshing Subscription Channels monthly, Content Planners must assess the appropriate shelf-life of each title to repackage and reuse to create market demand.

They will be content passionate, interested in the media landscape and knowledgeable about global events, and able to utilize all 3 to also curate ad-hoc channels to encourage increased spend from our customers. As part of this function, they will be expected to provide insight to our Content Acquisitions team around strong emerging content brands to assess the viability of sponsored partnerships.

Planners must ensure titles are widely accessible to a global audience and do not have licensing holdbacks or limitations. They will be expected to flag any pieces of content with suitability, material or licensing territory restrictions to our internal Customer Success team and Operations team for trouble-shooting.  

Content Planners will be given specific content areas to focus on, such as Scripted Drama TV, and will use our next-generation IFE platform to create each channel in our online portal. Each channel will have a list of subscribers and after publishing their channel each month, the team will liaise with Global Operations to kick-start the delivery of the movies and TV titles to each subscribed customer.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Constant review of acquired library of titles to ensure product familiarity
  • Selecting titles each month to fit the VOD channel brief
  • Assessing if any titles could cause issues in supply chain, such as rights clearance, and escalating
  • Screening content to assess quality and relevance
  • Assessing if any titles would be unsuitable for global audiences and escalating to regional teams
  • Duplicating channels and adjusting titles where necessary to align with cultural sensitivities
  • Reviewing and appraising content catalogues and libraries for potential acquisition
  • Sending titles for each channel to Global Operations team to fulfil

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent international degree)
  • Proven ability to work in a high-paced, time-sensitive environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
  • 3+ years in a content, media or entertainment focused organisation or role

Skills

  • Strong organisation skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Adherence to deadlines and effective time management
  • Comfortable pitching content and able to talk knowledgeably and professionally about titles
  • Interested in movies, TV, and non-traditional content (e.g. Youtube, etc.) content
  • Specialist knowledge in at least one content type
  • Creative thinker
  • Understanding of cultural nuance and sensitivity to certain types of content or themes
  • Able to assess the quality and commercial value of content
  • Stays abreast of wider trends and updates in the content, media and entertainment space
  • Comfortable with ambiguous environment undergoing change
  • Experience in international market and multiple geographical regions a benefit but not required
  • Able to draw actionable insights from data a benefit but not required
