Job Title: MENA COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Regional Communciations Advisor, the Coordinator will provide technical leadership and support to the Country Offices in the MENA region towards achieving their communications objectives, as well as helping manage regional and country-level communications and media engagement in a manner that raises CARE's public profile and influence with key audiences.

The Communications Coordinator will also help develop, produce and strengthen content to enhance marketing, fundraising and outreach efforts. Additionally, the Communications Coordinator and will help archive and organize communications material and be responsible for information management and sharing.

The Communications Coordinator will support in developing and regularly updating programmatic updates to better tell the story of CARE's work across the region. The Communications Coordinator will support communications teams  across the MENA country offices in the following areas: donor communications, public information, media, advocacy, emergency and internal communications. 

Fluency in Arabic is required. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reputational Management, Media and Communications

  • Support and facilitate communications and media initiatives that build and protect the reputation of CARE across Country Offices in the MENA region 
  • Develop and strengthen content for CARE in the region, including by gathering interviews, developing scripts, producing and editing videos and designing infographics and visually engaging content. 
  • Support strategic media engagement, including managing requests from CARE members partners, especially during emergencies. 
  • Support CARE Country Offices and partners in their outreach efforts to media outlets and arrange interviews for designated CARE spokespeople;
  • Manage media matters in relation to CI/CMPs, high-level and donor visits, ensuring coordination with relevant CARE stakeholders.
  • Monitor local, regional and international media for issues and developments of importance to CARE's operations and reputation at the country, regional and global level, including mentions of CARE in the media. 

     

Leadership and Quality Assurance Support

  • Operationalize (with required technical expertise) CARE’s global communications and media policies, protocols/guidelines and standards of importance and relevance to country offices in the region;
  • Manage requests from CMPs, donor, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support for regional communications, including multimedia products, including video and photographic content for social media use.
  • Take notes and keep record of actions items during MENA communications biweekly calls and help coordinate inputs for regional and global communications initiatives, products and campaigns. 
     

Capacity Building and Talent Development

  • Facilitate a process of continuous learning on appropriate communications systems, processes and tools, as appropriate to the context and priorities of the Middle East North Africa (MENA)
  • Support Country Offices in building the media and communication capacities of their teams, specifically the communication staff. Facilitate access to key communications resources, materials, learning and support opportunities for Country Offices, establish institutional links, engagement of trainers, and mentoring.
     

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor degree in communications, media, journalism, public relations, or other related field;
- At least 7 years of professional experience in areas of international communications, media, journalism, humanitarian work;
- Excellent writing, editing and communications skills (verbal and written) in Arabic and English;
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, plan and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in journalism or communications;
- Videography and video editing;
- Design;
- Additional web, apps and graphic design qualifications.
