The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are adding a Business Unit Manager to our growing Service division in Seattle, Washington. Additionally, some responsibilities you will have include:

  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical business unit plans in assigned territory
  • Responsible for meeting revenue goals and achieving planned bookings in assigned market.   Lead local Market team across sales, operations, and support domains.
  • Maintain sales and fulfillment forecast models.
  • Partner in monitoring and managing key business metrics.
  • Report identified potential business risk elements and design and implement mitigation efforts, collaborate with department/domain leaders on continuous improvement, process rigor, and change management.
  • Develop and communicate key business metrics in partnership with LOB domain leaders.
  • Build and maintain relationships within industry leaders, associations and organizations.

Department Leadership

  • Exercises local decision making by considering other departments within the company such as project management, sales, estimating, accounting, purchasing, dispatching etc.
  • Manages department planning and decision making
  • Partners with LOB platform on Planning, forecasting, staffing, & improvement measures.

 Team Management

  • Project staffing requirements and oversees team requirements. Recruit, develops, and retains high performing employees.
  • Train, mentor and manage first level people supervisors and managers  in effective tactics to attain team goals.
  • Create performance plans, assesses performance and provides performance feedback.
  • Communicate company and department goals, policies, plans and priorities formally and informally.
  • Acts as a steward of McKinstry culture; communicates and influences policies and procedures. 

Portfolio Development 

  • Develop ways to profitably integrate business unit services, product offerings, processes and procedures.
  • Negotiate contracts with clients.
  • Ensures effective scheduling of all items/actions required to complete a project on time and on budget. 

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related degree or equivalent work experience required. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.
  • Ten (10+) years of experience in service or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of management experience required.
  • Basic estimating skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of project financials and reporting policies required.

The pay range for this position is $157,900-$240,100 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
