The Communications Officer, with experience in the public health or related sector, and with excellent writing skills, will support the India office and the Policy Advocacy and Communications (PAC) team in media campaigns that promote positive change, digital media, support management of a proprietary research tool, and provide operational and knowledge management support which include tobacco control, road safety, and any other non-communicable projects or other special projects.

The salary for this position is INR 14,25,000 to INR 18,00,000. Job Purpose

The Communications Officer, with experience in the public health or related sector, and with excellent writing skills, will support the India office and the Policy Advocacy and Communications (PAC) team in media campaigns that promote positive change, digital media, support management of a proprietary research tool, and provide operational and knowledge management support which include tobacco control, road safety, and any other non-communicable projects or other special projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to Director, Policy Advocacy and Communication Programs, India, the Communication Officer will support the following:

  • Assist in strategic communication technical assistance provided to government ministries and departments at national and sub-national levels on the planning and implementation of communication campaigns.
  • Participate in the ideation, strategizing, and planning of media campaign tactics to be executed.
  • Collaborate with the Director to manage agency relationships (campaign execution, social media, and PR) and ensure deliverables are met within agreed timelines.
  • Support in public relations, from events to press releases and editorial pieces that garner media attention for the program, Vital Strategies, and public health issues.
  • Assist in the management of the proprietary research tool, Tobacco Enforcement and Reporting Movement (TERM), and related reports/issue briefs designing, content and dissemination with guidance from the Director and Senior Research Manager
  • Facilitate events such as workshops and trainings by providing logistical and administrative assistance.
  • Ensure timely drafting and reporting of the work done and achievements in internal and external forums.
  • Working with Director, India, PAC, to drafting marketing materials, case studies, reports, and presentations for tobacco control, road safety, NCD or other special projects as directed.
  • Coordinate reporting and documentation related to the projects.
  • Liase with Operations, Finance and HR on contracting, procurement, invoicing and other related tasks
  • Any other task, new project activities or special projects as assigned and directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Education and degree

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in mass media, journalism, or any other related discipline.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of relevant work experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience of both traditional and social media campaigns
  • Excellent   written communication and adept drafting briefs, marketing materials, and social media content
  • Familiarity with public health and health advocacy will be an advantage. Strong initiative, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize and deliver on timelines.
  • Ability to work with a multicultural team.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  •  Excellent presentation skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work flexibly with colleagues across different time zones.
  • Travel domestically with the team about 50% of the time.
