About the Business Development Internship

The Business Development division is looking for an intern to conduct research and contribute to Vital’s strategic business development plan through the creation of a database of US government (USG) funded global health projects. The Business Development intern will work closely with the other members of the division to identify priorities and strategies in global public health funding that are in line with Vital’s current work and mission.

Responsiblities

  1. Research public and subscription databases to identify US government-funded global health projects relevant to Vital Strategies; prioritize results based on topical and geographic priorities (in terms of relevancy to current Vital work)
  2. Review projects to identify primary and secondary goals, budget and funders, project length, stakeholders and their roles, final reports/assessment of the project
  3. Evaluate prior projects and issue recommendations for future funding plans including potential partners or competitors
  4. Identify roles that Vital can play and gaps that can be filled by Vital employees’ skillsets 

Education and Work Experience

  • Graduate student studying public health/MPH student
  • Experience interning or working in public health, a plus (preferably related to non-communicable diseases, environmental health, data-driven policy work, or other work Vital Strategies does)
  • Prior experience working with US government grants and/or government grant reporting, in particular USAID, CDC, Department of State, Department of Defense, EPA, etc., a plus

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to think strategically and develop plans for the future
  • Knowledge of government funding programs and reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is a plus
