Resolve to Save Lives is a global health initiative of Vital Strategies that since 2017 has been working closely with governments, international organizations, community organizations, academic and other partners in more than 40 countries to save millions of lives by reducing preventable deaths from cardiovascular disease and strengthening capacity to prevent, detect and respond to epidemic threats. At Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL), an initiative of Vital Strategies, we value learning and professional development, and the contributions of a diverse workforce. We believe it is important to mentor future leaders from underrepresented groups who will grow personally and professionally and create impact in the public health sector. Interns at Resolve to Save Lives will have the chance to develop skills and contribute to our initiatives through engaging, meaningful work assignments that can help jump start their career in public health.

 

LINKS is an online community and resource center for people working to improve cardiovascular health across the globe. This project aims to accelerate implementation of evidence-based strategies in hypertension, salt reduction, and elimination of artificial trans-fat. LINKS stands for:

S: Support for eligible organizations in low- and middle-income countries

Duties and Responsibilities:

The intern will be responsible for general maintenance of the https://linkscommunity.org/ website as well as providing administrative support to the LINKS grants program and community building activities. Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Redesign the toolkits by arranging focus groups of LINKS members to get input on user experience, developing a new structure
  • Adding new materials, fixing broken links, supporting the development of any new resource guide or pages
  • Designing scalability & sustainability frameworks for existing grantees
  • Provide support during the budget and proposal revision process for Round 3
  • Reconcile and update progress & finance report tracking system
  • Data analysis of community building activities
  • Other duties as required by the LINKS Program Manager

Qualifications: 

  • Graduate student  
  • Area of study: Public Health, Public Administration
  • Required skills: organized, responsive, attentive to details, excellent communication skills
  • Preferred skills: Grants or project management experience, web design experience

Internship Details:

  • Up to 20 hours a week 
  • January through May 2021 with the possible option to renew, based on mutual agreement 
  • Internship will be based out of the New York office but will be remote while the office remains closed
