2021 Emera Employees’ Children Scholarship          
The Emera Scholarship for Employees’ Children offers one non-renewable $2,000 award to children/dependents of regular employees or retirees of Emera Inc., Emera Energy, Emera New Brunswick and Emera Newfoundland & Labrador. Recipients may have the opportunity to participate in a 12-week paid internship at Emera In. Recipients will be notified to apply for opportunities.
Past recipient winners can re-apply each year.  

Nova Scotia Power & Affiliate companies maintain their own Scholarship Program.

Criteria

• Applicant must be the child of a regular employee or retiree.
• Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant.
• Recipients are selected on the basis of a solid academic record (minimum 75% average), financial need, leadership, service to the community, involvement in extra-curricular activities, and their written essay.

This scholarship will not be awarded in conjunction with any other Nova Scotia Power Inc. scholarship and will not be awarded for the pursuit of Graduate studies.

Application Requirements
To qualify please complete the Emera Employees’ Children Scholarship online application and include the following documents:

1. Completed Emera Employees’ Children Scholarship application form (online);
2. Resume;
3. High School transcript (Grade 10-12, including fall semester marks);
4. Essay; max 500 words. TOPIC: "Why you are the right choice for this scholarship and what would this scholarship mean to you?” (This is your opportunity to introduce yourself to the Selection Committee. Write a brief essay that will help us get to know the person behind the application form.  Your essay should include educational and career goals, non-academic attributes, and what receipt of the scholarship will mean to you.);
5. Attach a minimum of one (1) reference letter to the application. (You may submit up to three (3) letters, however at least one reference is to be completed by the applicant's Teacher, Guidance Counsellor, Vice-Principal or Principal);
6. Budget (template here).

Selection Process
A selection committee, made up of Emera Inc. employees, will review the applications and make their decisions based on the following criteria; a solid academic record (minimum 75%), financial need, leadership and service to the community, involvement in extra-curricular activities and the written essay portion of the application form. Selected applicants may be invited for an interview.

• If you already have a profile with us, click on “Login Page” at the top right to log in

Step 1: Your Information

1. Upload only your Resume using the “Upload Resume” button
2. Complete the necessary fields
3. Click the next arrow

Step 2: Resume and Questions 

1. Attach your remaining documents using the “Add Attachment” button under the heading “Attachments”
2. These documents include: Your essay, transcript and budget template
3. Click the next arrow

Step 3: Review and Submit

1. eSign and select the date
2. Click on “Application Review” to ensure all documents have been uploaded correctly
3. Click “Submit”

Note: You must complete the entire application before clicking submit, you cannot log in later to add documents. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
