Trinity Metro is currently hiring Fixed Route Bus Operator Trainees. The successful candidate will represent Trinity Metro in a positive, customer friendly, respectful, honest and professional manner. 

This position's responsibilities include:

  • Report for duty promptly in proper uniform and physical condition.

  • Properly operate bus over prescribed route, following time schedule.

  • Provide information to passengers in a courteous, efficient manner; use proper etiquette to assist passengers with disabilities.

  • Use correct safety procedures to operate lift, secure wheelchairs, and other assistive devices when assisting passengers with disabilities.

  • Keep bus comfortable; operate bus smoothly and safely; conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure safety.

  • Collect proper fares and punch transfers.

  • Prepare written reports on traffic accidents, bus incidents, road damage, etc.

  • Operate a two-way radio system in accordance with established rules and regulations of Trinity Metro and Federal Communication Commission (FCC).

  • Make announcements to passengers upon approaching prescribed destination.


PAY PROGRESSION
Training - $17.00

After Training- $18.50

Start of Second year - $20.00

Start of Third year - $22.00

Start of Fourth year - $25.63

*applicants that are hired with a CDL w/passenger endorsement will go to $20/hr after completion of training. 

REQUIRED SKILLS
Valid driver’s license for at least three (3) years

No more than 1 moving violation within the last three (3) years

At least 18 years old

Able to work flexible work schedule Monday – Sunday

Pass written portion of CDL B permit with passenger endorsement by the second week of training.

Ability to pass complete motor vehicle, criminal, and drug and physical background checks

Bilingual a plus

EXPERIENCE
Retained a drivers license for last 3 years.

  1. The Company will pay a sign-on bonus in the amount of $3,000 to new Fixed Route Bus Operator trainees that have a CDL w/passenger endorsement at time of hire.  The amount will be paid directly to the employee through the employee’s regular paycheck, as follows:

    1. $500 will be paid after the employee successfully completes 30 calendar days as defined by the Company.

    2. $1000 will be paid after the employee successfully completes their probationary period as defined by the Company.

    3. $1,500 will be paid after the employee successfully completes six (6) months of service from their hire date as defined by the Company.
