POSITION:  Assistant/Associate Professor of Physical Therapy                                                          

DEPARTMENT:  College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences – Physical Therapy (DPT)           

STATUS:  Full Time Tenure Track

 

SUMMARY:

The Campbell University Doctor of Physical Therapy program is seeking applicants for a 12-month full-time, tenure track faculty appointment to join our team. Candidates must have doctoral preparation and completed an academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or ScD); ABD candidates will be considered if completed by Summer of 2021. The position includes teaching courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Rank appointment based on applicant qualifications and experience.

The program housed within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (CPHS) on the health sciences campus. State of the art facilities provide excellent resources for faculty to carry out the program philosophy and mission. Multiple hi and low fidelity simulation areas and simulated patients are available along with OSCE suites and software for quality reflective learning experiences. Interprofessional teaching and learning is recognized and readily available with multiple programs on health sciences and main campus (osteopathic medicine, physician assistant, nursing, public health, engineering, and pharmacy).

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and present materials in areas of assigned teaching that meet course objectives
  • Assess student competence within courses
  • Be an active member on assigned committees and department meetings
  • Advise students
  • Demonstrate and/or develop and carry out a defined scholarly agenda
  • Be active in service (e.g. community, university, and profession)
  • Participate in assessment of the program, college, and university, as assigned
  • Identify and develop adjunct teachers that assist in laboratory experiences and guest speaking
  • Participate in patient care and program pro bono clinical services
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Other job related duties, activities and responsibilities may change or be assigned at any time, with or without notice
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to Title IX,  and and Information Security, including but not limited to; HIPAA, FERPA and other state and federal mandates

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • A PT degree (or post-professional DPT) and academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or ScD) is required from an accredited institution recognized by the Department of Education; ABD candidates will be considered if completed by Summer of 2021
  • ABPTS or other specialty certification desired
  • Experience teaching in physical therapy program
  • Familiality with Blackboard, Examsoft, and survey generators (survey monkey, qualtrics, etc) desired
  • 5-7 years of practice experience as a licensed physical therapist with eligibility for licensure as a PT in NC

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
  • Excellent  interpersonal skills including conflict resolution and mentoring
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and standard methods of digital communication
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, high level university officials and the public
  • Exercise independent judgement, in complex, new, and/or stressful situations
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills
  • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects and meet set deadlines
  • Adapatibility, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment
  • This position requires accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University
