Assembly Technician

Position Overview

At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Assembly Technician to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Responsibilities

- The Assembly Technician performs complex and advanced fabrication and assembly of detailed parts, subassemblies, and final assemblies in a manufacturing environment as well as on customer aircraft.
- This includes adhesive bonded assemblies of metallic and nonmetallic composite materials. In addition to assembly, this position will be flexible to perform other aircraft manufacturing duties as required possibly include, but not limited to composite layup, painting, trim and drill, tool movement and working interdepartmentally to ensure product delivery.
- The level of work performed is moderately advanced to complex requiring crafts level skill and experience in the aerospace industry with an understanding of aircraft mechanics.
- Candidate must be willing and capable to review production and process documentation, production scheduling and planning and assist in expediting the flow of material, parts, and assemblies.
- A qualified candidate should be able to multi-task, take initiative and communicate clearly.
- Work will be performed locally (Bridgeport, WV) as well as potential for travel to other Aurora Manufacturing sites (Columbus, MS and/or Manassas, VA).
- This will be a second shift position.

Minimum Requirements

- High School or equivalent and/or technical school and minimum one (1) year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- General knowledge of hand tools.
- Ability to use precision measurement devices.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Be able to understand and follow written and verbal instruction.
- Must be able to work any shift.
- Must be a U.S. Person.

Preferred Requirements

- Advanced vocational and/ or military technical schooling related to aircraft manufacturing or maintenance, or FAA licensed A&P.
- Experienced in FAA manufacture and associated paperwork.
- Use hand and power tools such as routers, drills, die grinders and other like tools to complete the required operations called out in the work instructions in a safe manner.
- Use close tolerance measuring tools i.e., scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges and like tools.
- Handling, mixing, and applying various epoxy resin materials and systems.
- Use and maintain customer supplied tooling in proper working order.
- Follow engineering planning and accurately fill out and complete work orders.
- Keep a clean work area and have good work habits.
- Participate in projects developing process improvement methods, solutions, and procedures to enhance program quality, cost, and scheduling.

Physical Requirements

- This is a second shift position.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
- Flexible to work extended hours.
- Lift and transport objects up to 35 pounds; consistently stand, stoop, crawl, bend, crouch, climb, and kneel.
- Work onsite in Bridgeport, WV.

Salary Range (Annualized USD)

  • Minimum Range: $36,000.00 to $64,000.00
  • Maximum Range: $42,000.00 to $74,000.00
