Autonomous System Designer

Position Overview

At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Autonomous System Designer to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Responsibilities

- Lead autonomous system design through complete product life cycle.
- Oversee and maintain complete autonomy system architecture and system models through complete product life cycle.
- Engage Aurora/Boeing leadership and external customers in leading new autonomous aircraft product concepts.
- Lead / assist in leading technical implementation of autonomous system.
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers at Aurora and Boeing to transfer knowledge and technology.
- Assist in the preparation of R&D proposals and patent applications.

Minimum Requirements

- B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Computer Science or related engineering fields.
- Ability to develop and deploy useful autonomy systems into the real world.
- Ability to lead and maintain complete autonomy system architecture from ideation through implementation.
- Coding skills in Python or C++.
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen or a permanent resident/Green Card holder).

Preferred Requirements

- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering.
- Experience with modern autonomy concepts: scene understanding, path planning, decision making, natural language processing, and general AI/ML.
- Experience with robot hardware (sensors, computation, actuation, and power electronics). 
- Understanding of aerospace industry.
- Experience writing peer-reviewed publications or project proposals.

Salary Range (Annualized USD)

  • Minimum Range: $75,000.00 to $134,000.00
  • Maximum Range: $93,000.00 to $165,000.00
