Job Functions

·         Under direction from the Engineering Planning Department (EPD) Senior Civil Engineer, the Engineering Assistant performs the following tasks:

-   Compiles data for various asset management functions (Master Plans, pipeline replacement analysis, cost database, conditional assessments, etc.)

-   Performs complex data analyses using Microsoft Excel

-   Provides research for EPD responses to GSWC/PUC-related data requests

-   Updates exhibits and drawings (GIS and CAD)

-   Updates, maintains and utilizes hydraulic models

-   Other routine research and drafting tasks

·         Data entry and filing.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

·         Works under immediate supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

·         Pursuing a course of study in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications.

·         Effective written and verbal communication skills.

·         Ability to analyze and solve complex problems.

·         Organized, detail-oriented and able to prioritize tasks.

·         May include but not limited to standing, walking, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, lifting, reaching, stooping and crouching, color determination, typing, sitting, reading, speaking   and listening.
