About the Role:
Vital Strategies is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor: Innovation, Impact & Insights to join our team and play a critical role in advancing our global public health mission. The position will be based in New York. Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will bring a wealth of experience and a proven track record of integrating innovation in data science including AI into programming, leveraging data to drive strategy, and measuring the impact of our initiatives on a global scale. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in analytics, impact measurement and evaluation, and identifying emerging trends and opportunities within the global health sector to inform Vital’s long-term strategy. This is a full-time position based in our New York office, where a hybrid, 2-day-per-week office schedule is in place. We offer highly competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits. The salary range for this position is $160,000 to $170,000 USD. The candidate must have authorization to work legally in the United States at the time of hire.
Job Purpose:
The Senior Technical Advisor will help inform and shape the organization's innovation, impact measurement, and insights strategies, ensuring that our global health initiatives are impactful, data-driven, and aligned with long-term strategic goals. This role will focus on systematically gathering, analyzing, and documenting the global impact of Vital’s work and operationalize systems that capture, curate, and communicate insights from Vital’s programming. With a strong foundation in both quantitative and qualitative analysis, the Senior Technical Advisor will inform strategic, policy, and management decisions, while advancing a culture of learning, collaboration, and sustainable impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Innovation -
· Global Health Trends & Innovations: Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and innovations in global public health, AI, and data science, providing insights that inform strategic decision-making.
· Collaboration for Innovation: Work closely with program leads to integrate data insights and data science innovations into existing programs, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and greater impact.
· Collaboration with Partnerships & Development: Identify and advance strategic partnerships that leverage innovations in data science and technologies, including AI, driving value and accelerating our impact.
· New system integration: Collaborate across divisions to create systems and practices that integrate data and AI technologies into services and programs effectively.
· Communication: Develop compelling briefs, proposals, and concept notes to articulate the value of new innovations and drive execution.
Impact -
· Organizational Impact Framework: Develop a comprehensive impact framework to track and align organizational activities with our mission and strategic goals.
· Impact Metrics: Oversee the development of impact metrics and reporting systems to monitor progress, ensuring accountability and performance across all programs.
· Dynamic Dashboard Development: Lead the design and implementation of a dynamic impact dashboard, assessing outcomes through an equity lens.
· Reporting: Regularly present high-level impact assessments to the executive team, board members, and key stakeholders.
· Impact Communication: Create data visualizations and reports that communicate impact in an engaging and accessible manner for diverse audiences.
Insights -
· Data-Driven Insights: Conduct data analyses to uncover patterns and trends, providing actionable insights to support decision-making and program improvement.
· Health Equity Lens: Evaluate the impact of programs through a data-driven health equity lens, identifying how factors such as geography, gender, race, and socio-economic status interact and influence the progress and outcomes of initiatives. Offer insights that help ensure inclusive and equitable interventions.
· Advanced Analytics: Implement advanced analytics methods to generate insights, influence strategy, and support decision-making at all levels.
· Knowledge Management: Curate and develop knowledge products that support learning and knowledge sharing within the organization and across partner networks.
· External Thought Leadership: Collaborate with the Policy, Advocacy, and Communications teams to create content (e.g., op-eds, policy briefs) that highlights data-driven insights and elevates the organization’s role in global health discourse.
Qualifications:
Education -
· Advanced degree in global health, public health, public policy, social impact, or a related field preferred.
Skills & Abilities -
· Strategic Insight & Analytical Rigor: Proven ability to analyze complex data and derive strategic insights that inform organizational strategies.
· Effective Communication: Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate technical data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership.
· Project Management: Experience managing complex projects across multiple stakeholders, balancing strategic oversight with practical implementation.
· Technical Expertise: Expertise in using AI and data science tools for public health analytics, including experience developing dashboards and visualizations.
· Impact Measurement: Familiarity with impact measurement best practices and the ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies.

Experience:
Required -
· 15+ years of progressive experience in global health or related fields.
· Proven experience working effectively with global teams in multiple time zones
· Demonstrated experience in designing and leading Impact measurement or M&E functions.
· Demonstrated expertise in leveraging AI and emerging technologies in global health or related programs.
Preferred -
· Management consulting or advisory services experience
· Global work experience across diverse regions
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
· Ability to work in a hybrid work environment with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
