Position Summary:
The tenure track Assistant Professor of Chemistry in Biochemistry will work in the Department of Chemistry & Physics within the College of Arts & Sciences. The Assistant Professor Biochemist will have a 12-hr. teaching load each semester, determined by the Department Chair and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. This will generally be accomplished as a combination of four lecture and laboratory sections including General Chemistry and Biochemistry.
As the departmental Biochemist, the assistant professor will provide guidance to the biochemistry committee to maintain our ASBMB accreditation and to help liaison with the Department of Biology which shares the Biochemistry program.
The faculty member will also perform academic advising as well as department, school, and university-wide service and committee work. The successful candidate will conduct research with undergraduate students within the Bachelor of Science programs of Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Ability to teach and lead in biochemistry
Ability to communicate effectively to colleagues outside of specialization and collaborate effectively
Strong computer skills and the ability to learn, utilize, or adapt to new and emerging technology
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and common methods of digital communication including web/text/chat platforms
Commitment to professional development and engagement in the specialization
Knowledge of Blackboard Ultra Learning Management System or ability to learn Blackboard
Ability to adapt to changing student needs.
Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with, faculty, staff, students, university officials and the public
Exercise independent judgement and maintain strict confidentiality as necessary
Ability to work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people
