Position:                      Athletics Study Hall Monitor

Position Summary:

Campbell University is an NCAA Division I institution, a member of the Coastal Athletic Association, and hosts 21 sports programs. The Athletics Study Hall Monitor is responsible for monitoring the athletes during their study hall session(s) as assigned by the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take attendance by checking student athletes in and out of the study hall area
  • Monitor activity to ensure students are being productive, doing coursework, or studying during the study hall session
  • Maintain a safe, quiet and positive learning environment
  • Responsible for ensuring supplies and equipment in the study hall area are stocked and functioning properly
  • Ensure the study hall area is secure at the end of each session
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with NCAA, Coastal Athletic Association and University rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Uphold and abide by the Athletic Department and Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to HIPAA, FERPA and other state and federal guidelines.

Education/Experience: 

  • High School Diploma/GED required, Associates or Bachelor's degree desired
  • Experience as an academic tutor desired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exercise good judgment in complex, new or challenging situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate professionally and effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in interactions with student athletes, coaches, officials, trainers, all others associated with athletic programs, university faculty and staff, and the public
  • Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people
  • This position requires integrity, honesty and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University
