UNMMG's Department of Clinical Practice Excellence is dedicated to supporting the mission, initiatives and goals of the UNM Health System by providing actionable, relevant and timely information through business intelligence best practices.

We are currently seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst 3 to provide relevant, timely, and actionable information to decision makers throughout the UNM Health System. Using advanced functions of Microsoft Access, Excel, and Business Objects, monitors and evaluates practice clinical and operational effectiveness, analyzes provider productivity, designs and implements integrated analytical studies, and makes recommendations for improvement to leadership. Develops dashboards and visualizations using a Business Intelligence tool, like Tableau. Supports the UNM Health System through data, reporting and analytics. Performs and/or oversees strategic, broad-Impact practice management and financial analyses, reporting, and technical systems development for the clinical enterprise at the request of organizational leaders. Leads and coordinates at the request of organizational leaders the technical design and Implementation of operational, clinical ancillary financial analytical systems and reports. May develop and deliver internal operational, clinical, financial ancillary business intelligence training programs, as appropriate.

Responsibilities of this position include:

- Building, testing, and documenting dashboards, reports, tables, etc. using MS Access, Excel, and Business Objects.

- Developing actionable dashboards using Tableau.

- Collecting and interpreting data from a variety of sources to prepare reports and analyses.

- Formulating recommendations based on analysis of the data

- Partnering on analyses with medical and operational personnel at al/ levels throughout the institution as required to develop, implement and maintain performance goals and objectives.

The successful candidate will be able to effectively communicate technical Information to non-technical personnel. Knowledge of clinical business processes or experience In a Healthcare environment preferred.

Summary

Develops dashboards and visualizations using a Business Intelligence tool, like Tableau. Supports Population Health Management through data, reporting and analytics. Performs and/or oversees strategic, broad-impact practice management and financial analyses, reporting, and technical systems development for the clinical enterprise at the request of organizational leaders. Leads and coordinates at the request of organizational leaders the technical design and implementation of operational, clinical and/or financial analytical systems and reports. May develop and deliver internal operational, clinical, financial and/or business intelligence training programs, as appropriate.

Duties and Responsibilities           

  1. Oversees the design, documentation, and implementation of various integrated analytical systems and applications for routine and ad hoc operational, clinical and/or financial reporting, utilizing complex electronic information from HSC systems and databases.

  2. Compiles and analyzes operational, clinical and/or financial information from all components of the organizational entity.

  3. Develops integrated analyses, performance dashboards, reports, and presentations.

  4. Collaborates with and coordinates all components of the organization to ensure consistent reporting and adherence to reporting regulations and guidelines, and conformity with UNMMG policies and procedures.

  5. Interacts with clinical management to enhance operating effectiveness and responsiveness to patients through monitoring and evaluating the provision of patient services, to include all operations affecting patient care and service delivery.

  6. Develops and implements appropriate operational, clinical and/or financial benchmarks and standards at the direction of clinical management.

  7. Supports process improvement initiatives by providing timely and relevant information.

  8. Designs, coordinates, and implements training programs for personnel within the organization and its components regarding process improvement.

  9. Provides leadership, project management, and operational coordination to various internal technical, professional, and/or administrative personnel engaged in specified project activities, as appropriate to the position.

  10. Designs and develops clinical and operational reports, dashboards and visualizations for end users across the UNM Health System.

  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified OR Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours with at least 5 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.  Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record data.

  • Experience with Business Objects, MS Access, MS Excel, and visualization tools like Tableau.

  • Advanced knowledge of the principles, processes, and standards for project management and process improvement, as well as the operating and business characteristics of a large, complex medical practice.

  • Ability to compile, analyze, interpret, and present complex integrated reports, dashboards, and projects.

  • Experience developing and delivering formal presentations.

  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments related to complex analytical systems.

  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures and developing and implementing new technical strategies and procedures.

  • Ability to collaborate with and/or train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating work assignments.

  • Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise.

  • Proficiency in organizing, supporting and facilitating work groups and formal meetings.

  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be employment eligible as verified by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA).

  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

  • Fingerprinting, and subsequent clearance, is required.

  • Must provide proof of varicella & MMR immunity or obtain vaccinations within 90 days of employment.

  • Must obtain annual influenza vaccination.

  • If this position is assigned to a clinical area, successful candidate will be required to complete a pre-placement medical evaluation/health screen.  Required N-95 mask fitting, testing, vaccinations to include annual TST, Tdap, and Hepatitis B will be determined based on location and nature of position.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
