RI is active in 16 countries around the world, including some of the most fragile: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, and Yemen. Often, RI is the only organization providing assistance to highly vulnerable communities.
RI employs about 5,000 staff and auxiliary workers 97% of staff are local nationals and there are about 90 international (expat) staff.
2021 programs budget is about $125M
RI receives funding from a broad range of institutional donors – US, UK, Europe, and the UN, to delivery life-saving and resilience building programming with communities and local and international partners. RI supports solutions that reinforce and improve upon existing in-country systems. Where such systems do not exist or are chronically underperforming, RI’s crisis response lays the foundation for long-term, sustainable change.
About RI Surge Interim Positions.
We are currently accepting applications for Relief International’s Surge Roster for short-term assignments (varying from weeks to months) to manage periods of emergency and transition within Relief International.
Position Summary.
The Information Management Officer is responsible for the maintenance and progress of RI’s data management practices in country and field offices. The officer will play a key role in supporting country staff on following key Information Management policies and practices, collaborating with country MEAL staff to ensure high-quality data is being collected, inputted, and visualized. The officer will be responsible to ensure that RI’s MEAL information management systems are maintained, and collected data is valid, reliable; and used in the form of reports and visuals that inform data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities and Duties.
· Assist regional MEAL staff in training country staff on LogAlto, acting as an administrator · Collect required programmatic indicators from staff on a routine basis. These indicators are used by Senior Leadership to track progress across the organization. The indicators are uploaded into LogAlto, and then visualized using PowerBI. This includes quality assurance checks and training of country and project staff on data integrity issues. · Building and monitoring capacity on issues related to data integrity and data protection. This includes keeping informed and advising RI staff on emerging trends regarding data protection and data management. · Train and support non-MEAL staff on data processing and data analysis functions as well as providing short-term technical assistance, as needed, for interpretation and analysis of country/program-specific data collection exercises. · As needed, provide in-country training and support related to project and programmatic data management processes.
Other related tasks that may arise from time to time.
· Uphold and promote RI’s commitment to ensuring the safeguarding and safety of the vulnerable communities we serve. · Consistent with RI’s safeguarding and protection policies, contribute to ensuring that all those who come into contact with Relief International staff and the communities we serve can be trusted to work safely with them · Support and develop systems that create and maintain an environment that prevents sexual exploitation and abuse and promotes the implementation of the Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies. · Work collaboratively with the Global Safeguarding Manager to advocate for the inclusion of safeguarding activities and resources within program · Ability to demonstrate knowledge of donor requirements of safeguarding standards and protection from exploitation and abuse.
Role requirements.
Experience and skills required for the role. · Experience in working on Management Information Systems (MIS). · Relevant academic background with a technical degree relating to MIS and/or database management, software development, research, social science, statistics. · Strong theoretical and educational background on MIS/GIS and mapping for humanitarian/development work desired. · Good command of MIS/GIS software, and Database software such as Access, SQL or FoxPro. · Good command of Power BI, and related platforms that shared common APIs is essential. · Advanced computer skills in PowerPoint, Word and Excel required including experience with pivot tables, database design, and graphical representation. · Excellent visual design sense regarding clear and accurate presentation of data. · Fluency in spoken and written Turkish. Arabic would be a bonus.
