At KBR, our DSP Engineers are challenged with analyzing advanced communication systems, reverse engineering complex signals/systems, and developing software tools and solutions as part of our cyber research team. Our engineers work in a cross-discipline environment; often tasks will blend hardware & software reverse engineering, Position Navigation and Timing (PNT), Software Defined Radio (SDR) development, and heavily network driven systems/solutions.

KBR is seeking energetic candidates for our Embedded System Design Engineer opening.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment specializing in firmware and software development of real-time signal processing products, applications, and algorithms
  • Digital transceiver design and develop leveraging SDR (Software Defined Radio) technologies including the implementation of digital modulation, demodulation, and encoding techniques
  • Use of Linux-based SDK's and DSP frameworks (I.e. GnuRadio, OpenCPI, REDHAWK) to analyze and reverse engineer wireless signals
  • Development of DSP algorithms in VHDL or Verilog programming languages
  • Ability to draw from various knowledge bases and resources to solve complex problems
  • Test and demonstrate in field tests
  • Technical writing is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a BS degree (Electrical or Computer Engineering) with some embedded programming experience
  • Background in signals and systems, digital signal processing, and/or digital communication theory and Design
  • Linux programming environments

Desired Skills/Background:

  • VHDL/Verilog with C/C++, and/or Python
  • Signal Processing Algorithms
  • Modulation Demodulation of digital signals

Hardware (Knowledge of working with)

  • SDR Software Defined Radio
  • Signal/Logic Analyzers
  • FPGA Development

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • US Citizen with the Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
