About You

Are you a highly motivated, data-driven, creative problem solver with a passion for equitable social change and international development?

 

We are looking for a Consultant to join FSG’s dynamic consulting team and work with leaders in business and philanthropy who are addressing complex social and environmental problems and helping to build a more equitable and sustainable world.

 

 

Responsibilities:

You would spend most of your time on client projects that can be related to a variety of issue areas including education, health, economic mobility, impact investing, global health, and global development. You would:

 

Serve on client projects as a team member

  • Design efficient, effective, and appropriate research plans
  • Conduct and synthesize research in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner, and share ideas for ways to improve research plans
  • Conduct rigorous and accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis with appropriate consideration of root causes of inequities based on case context
  • Translate findings into informed, data-based insights and client recommendations, and communicate perspectives and ideas in clear, concise, and compelling ways
  • Participate in and help facilitate inclusive discussions with colleagues and clients
  • Collaborate with team members, including by giving and receiving feedback
  • When needed, assist with project logistics and coordination

 

Contribute to other aspects of the firm’s learning and development

  • Contribute to knowledge development and peer coaching
  • Support the creation of articles, publications, and blog posts
  • Assist with research for business development proposals as needed
  • Contribute to FSG’s internal culture including our commitment to individual and collective vitality, and an inclusive work environment

 

 

Requirements:

 

Professional experience:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in a consulting firm or in-house consulting function, or similarly relevant experience. We would expect this role to have involved primary and secondary research, data analysis, and contribution to solutions and recommendations

 

Social sector exposure:

  • Work experience, education, or training in the areas of impact investing, Global Health and/or Global Development
  • Demonstrated commitment to work in the areas of social change / international development, and interest in FSG’s work, ideas, and approaches
  • Experience in considering and applying equity and inclusion principles in work (e.g., disaggregating data, understanding and analysis of the historical context and root causes for inequities, examining population disparities, identifying targeted strategies based on varying assets/needs, and/or designing culturally appropriate interview guides, designing, and facilitating meetings with consideration of power dynamics, etc.)
  • Experience in different cultures and contexts

 

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English; fluency in additional languages is desirable
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with demonstrated ability to translate findings into clear and meaningful recommendations
  • Creativity and drive to go beyond the obvious, in formulating insights and solutions
  • Efficient time and task management skills; ability to balance multiple priorities, focus on details, and work quickly and efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; ability to organize and analyze datasets, and create charts/graphs

 

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree with demonstration of analytical and quantitative coursework

 

Other:

  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally up to 30% of the time (varies by project) – when pandemic travel restrictions are eased

 

 

Additional Information about this Position:

This is a full-time role in FSG’s Geneva office. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package. Salary bands are set according to an explicit compensation policy, with relevant market data analyzed when setting bands for each role.

 

The Consultant position offers opportunity for advancement, pending performance, to the following roles: Senior Consultant, Associate Director, Director, and Managing Director.

 

Based in Geneva, where FSG’s European hub is located, this position would be primarily office-based when not travelling for project work, with some flexibility for remote/home working.

 

Note: the office and working arrangements above describe what we expect to return to once COVID-19 pandemic restrictions are eased. At the time of writing, all FSG staff are working from home or remotely, due to prevailing government guidelines in Switzerland.
