Description

Corsair is hiring  a talented, innovative Electrical Engineer with a passion for aviation design, development, and test to join its growing engineering team developing unmanned aircraft systems. This engineer will work closely with a small collaborative team of mechanical, aerospace, and software engineers to develop products for Department of Defense (DoD) customers.   This is a hands-on position and engineers are responsible for driving their projects through from concept design through deployment while optimizing designs for reliability, weight, and efficiency.

   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

·       Define requirements for a new design and perform preliminary design including block diagrams, trade studies, and design reviews

·       Minimizing package volume and mass while maximizing reliability with DFM/A in mind

·       Integrate with cross-functional team members for design, layout, and documentation

·       Validate and verify through hardware-in-the-loop simulations

·       Must have experience in one of the following areas:

ü  Responsible for designing the integration between the power system and propulsion system, to include the starter/generator, fuel system integration, kill switch, etc.

ü  Responsible for redesigning the low-power systems such as the power distribution unit, power on/off control, current/voltage monitoring, battery charging, etc.

ü  Responsible for redesigning the high-power VTOL system – including the motors, high current batteries, high current cable harnesses, etc.

Qualifications Required:

·       Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline and 10+ years of related experience

·       Strong background in power architecture, component sizing, and integration

·       Knowledge of industry-standard electrical design principles

·       Experience working with small, multi-disciplinary teams

·       Comprehensive understanding and experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills in English 

·       Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere

·       U.S. Citizen

 

Qualifications Desired:

·       Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

·       Experience with component selection

·       Proficiency with simulations through functional and logical models and system analysis

·       Experience composing and analyzing Electrical Load Analysis (ELA), circuit modeling, simulation, and analysis

·       Understanding of Electro Magnetic Effects (EME) to include, Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI)

·       Experience in digital or analog circuit design and schematic capture

·       Understanding of the printed circuit board layout process and tools

·       Experience design-for-reliability, including use of DFMEA and fault trees
